7 May 09 Yesterday Sophia and I went to the Mall with Aunt Sharon and Sammy. Sophia and Sammy had a blast playing in the huge sandbox and at the dinosaur play area. We were at the Mall and didn't shop! Weird I know, but fun!
Sophia did find the candy store with the Hello Kitty isle. She left slobber prints on the glass ;-) Today we went to breakfast at the Dragonfly with Guinn, and then off to lunch at Julie's. Ringo and Sophia hit it off and became fast friends. It's nice to see her so good with animals.

6 May 09 Last night was wonderful! Ok all day was great. I went to BVCC and saw the girls from Tuesday study. What an amazing group it has become. So many thoughts and ideas, a great environment for learning. Then the Hotel boulderado's Corner Bar. Michelle, Bryant and I had a great time walking down memory lane and laughing. Bryant had me near tears I was laughing so hard. Michelle you look incredible!
It was wonderful catching up. Can't wait to do it again!

3 May 09 Sophia and I are in Colorado now. We are visiting my parents and helping my friend Juliette. Sophia has been dying to go to the Blue Parrott for Spaghetti so Grandma and Grandpa Blewitt took her their last night. I went to Lisa's for BBQ. Her hubby Ron pinned on Lt Colonel yesterday so it was time to let loose! Congrat's Ron! I also saw another Fairview person, Jeff Jenkins and his beautiful wife and kids. Fun was had by all. Goofy me brought my camera...showed pictures of the kids, but didn't take any. wow, I was really tired from flying all day.

20 April 09 Sophia and I have been planting. We have beautiful flowers growing all over the yard. Azaleas in the back yard, tulips in the front and roses everywhere in between! The rain here is really adding height and color to the yard. We planted daisies of all colors and shapes from seed. they are about 6 inches tall right now and should be flowering soon.
We also have lots of wildlife entertaining us in our yard. A groundhog has moved in next door. Sophia calls him Sam. He is bigger than my cat! And kitty is about 14 pounds! I have been trying to capture him on film..this is the best I have so far . |

12 Apr 09 HAPPY EASTER!
The Neumann's hope that you all have a blessed day and enjoy what we
have been given! There is a local artist that has this cute house on the corner of the main drag through the city. Outside she has a row of bikes that have been cemented in and painted white. Every season she decorates them with wonderful scene. I tell myself I need to photograph them in a "yearly" type of thing. Well I finally had my camera and caught the Easter bunny and his family making their way with their goodies!
We also went on a great trip to Luray Caverns! It was amazing! I have created a Movie with the photos I took. There is music too. Enjoy! |

5 April 09 We are in day two of spring break. I have both kids with me this whole week. We went to the Pentagon yesterday and had lunch with Daddy. Nothing like a rousing game of patty-cake in the middle of the Pentagon.
We had a great time meeting everyone in daddy's office. The kids were wrestling on the floor near daddy's desk, so at least one war was started AND finished at the Pentagon! All-in-all, a great day

28 Jan 2009 VIRGINIA ON ICE
Well the storm blew through yesterday with about
an inch or two of snow...Virginians don't really understand the concept
of snow plows, so school was cancelled. Today too as and ice storm
came after the snow and just covered everything. Here are pics of
our driveway and street. There is about a half inch of ice
covering it all. The flag is frozen solid.
Roger made it to work ok. Deciding to take the train rather than the bus...but it took about 20 minutes for him to get all the ice off the windshield. The kids are home with me today. All schools were closed last night. We have so far watched a bit of TV, ate breakfast, worked on Math and writing...now...well it's 9AM so we have the whole day to figure that out. |

24 Jan 2009 Roger Gets a Medal!!! Holy cow, how time flies. We had a wonderful Christmas Season. Roger was home for the whole week of Christmas and the kids and I were so grateful for that. New Years was uneventful as Roger and I were sound asleep by 9PM only to be woken up by our neighbors at mid-night with their fireworks. Big difference from Colorado where they are illegal...not noisy neighbors, just fireworks. It was nice to know the new year came and went soundlessly, almost We have a new President and with a change of administration comes change everywhere. The DC area was glorious chaos for the inauguration and went off with out a single person getting arrested. Amazing when you think about the fact that DC had 2 million extra people in it. Roger has been very busy at the Pentagon as well. Things will be in high gear for him for a while as the new President gets his plans out and incremented. All is good. SO good for Roger; something that he didn't even know about...Roger was awarded The Bronze Star!!! For his duty
in Iraq last year.
To all who shall see these presents, greeting: This is to certify that the president of the United States of America authorized by executive order 24 august 1962 has awarded THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL TO LIEUTENANT COLONEL ROGER L NEUMANN UNITED STATES AIR FORCE For exceptionally meritorious achievement as Base support Unit Chief, Coalition Air Force Training Team, Multi-National Security transition Command-Iraq, Kirkuk, Iraq, From 7 September 2007 to 5 September 2008, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Colonel Neumann's leadership and initiative were influential during a critical period in the mission of rebuilding the Iraqi Air Force. His dynamic leadership and numerous achievements contributed substantially to the Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq mission of developing and sustaining Iraqi Security Forces. Lieutenant Colonel Neumann honored the finest traditions of military service and reflected distinct credit upon himself, the Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq and the United States Air Force. VERY COOL! ROGER IS A WAR HERO...he has always been a hero at home... his medal here is the ring he wears. Now he wears a true badge of courage on his chest every day he goes to work, and also on his heart knowing the good he did to help those in need. If you want more information regarding the actual details of his service in Iraq that went towards this medal...let me know and I will scan the document and certificate in here. |
